Why Locals Love Ike's Famous Crabcakes

Nestled on the lively Ocean City Boardwalk, Ike's Famous Crabcakes offers an inviting seafood experience that promises to delight both locals and visitors craving authentic coastal flavors. As a standout seafood restaurant and sandwich shop, Ike’s specializes in delivering fresh, flavorful dishes centered around their acclaimed crab cakes and a diverse menu that proudly showcases the ocean’s bounty.

Step inside or order takeout to enjoy a casual yet vibrant atmosphere where the sizzling sounds and mouthwatering aromas of freshly cooked seafood set the mood for a satisfying meal. The menu highlights a variety of tempting choices, but the star attraction remains the legendary crab cakes—celebrated for their perfect balance of tender, sweet crab meat with hardly any filler. These cakes create a sublime harmony of delicate texture and savory richness that keeps patrons coming back for more.

For starters, their soups — like the creamy Clam & Corn Chowder featuring freshly chopped clams, bacon, and potatoes, and the hearty Red Crab Chowder brimming with blue crab and garden-fresh vegetables — offer a warm, comforting introduction to your meal. The specialty platters like the Monster Clam Strips (a generous ½ pound), light and crunchy Fish & Chips made with fresh cod, and the crispy Shrimp in a Basket deliver that quintessential beachside indulgence that seafood lovers crave.

Equally notable are Ike’s homemade sauces—particularly the creamy horseradish, sun-dried tomato tartar, and roasted red pepper sauce—each jar packed with flavor that elevates every bite, complementing their perfectly fried potato chips and sandwiches. Customers often rave about these sauces, with one noting that the horseradish sauce is memorable enough to warrant a return visit just for a jar to take home.

It’s impossible to ignore the warm and attentive service that contributes significantly to the dining experience at Ike's. Guests consistently mention the friendly staff and speedy service, making it a seamless place to grab a delicious meal before heading out to the beach or strolling along the boardwalk. The casual, welcoming vibe paired with fresh, expertly prepared seafood creates a perfect combination for a seaside outing.

Whether you’re indulging in a crab cake sandwich packed with just the right mix of crab and seasoning, savoring freshly fried seafood platters, or enjoying the crisp, house-made chips paired with a flavorful dip, Ike’s Famous Crabcakes guarantees a delightful taste of Ocean City. It’s more than just a meal; it’s a savory, satisfying experience that evokes the excitement and charm of the Jersey Shore.

Why am I just learning about Ike’s now?? This place is legit. They boast a great menu of a variety of seafood options and do not disappoint. I’ve tried many delicious things off of the menu, but the crab cakes, house made potato chips, and house made sauces definitely elevate the dining experience here. My wife grabbed some take out and took it to the beach which is now an experience I can’t wait to recreate. Just need to watch out for the seagulls!

Update: I couldn't get the horseradish sauce out of my mind, so we went back to get a jar and decided to order the chips with Crab dip (around $16). The chips and bacon were plentiful, but the crab dip was sparingly drizzled over the chips - nothing like the amount you get for the pretzel. -------‐-------- 2 orders of 2 crab cakes, 1 fish taco, 1 fish & chips, and a Bavarian pretzel. With a group that doesn't normally finish everything, yet our baskets were all emptied here. Delicious. (Though my uncle said the crab cakes weren't the same as he remembers) I personally fell in love with their horseradish sauce. Used it on everything (pretzel, crabcakes, and their homemade chips) Only 2 downs. First, a good portion of our chips came out soggy/moist. 2nd, my 10 year old ordered the poke bowl expecting to receive chips and coleslaw because it's under a category in the menu that says it comes with those. If I could have given 6 stars for service, I would have. He asked our server about the chips, and she at first said it didn't come with them, but came back with a side of chips saying she understood how he thought it did.

Ike's is an authentic spot with friendly and speedy service. And that crab cake sandwich..... My, was that good. Light and flavorful with the perfext ratio of crab to filler. Their potato chips were excellent as well and their sauces hit the spot. Although you pay for it, this is a must-do if you are nearby.

The location and the staff are what make this a great establishment. Oh, and also probably those sauces… I had the crabcake and it was an OK crabcake nothing fantastic but to be honest, I am not a huge crabcake fan… But I figure when in Rome… chips oh my! They were delicious! Oh, and the fruit tea was fantastic - highly recommend! Not too sweet and so refreshing I don’t know if it was worth the hour wait… Had we planned a little better and got our name on the list earlier? It would definitely have been worth it.

The crab cakes were phenomenal and just like everyone says - hardly any filler. I have no idea why they didn't fall apart. The "chips" were a wonderful surprise; we call them ribbon fries in Colorado and they were done to perfection. My only hesitation was the soft shell crabs as they were panko breaded which I like them in just a simple flour so the crab really comes through, but they are beautifully done. I ordered a sandwich with one of each so I could taste both and just deconstructed it to enjoy all the flavors on their own, but I bet together it would have been pure heaven. The sauces were amazing as well - especially the poblano sauce that came with the fish nuggets. Definitely worth a visit!

Always a good time, loud and lively with the great staff and terrific food from the scallops to the crabcake to the Mariners feast and the funds kids meal served in the bucket chef Vinny kills it daily on the grille running the kitchen like a boss!! Thanks always!! Rob Also, the salads accompanied by the tuna bites with the Cajun seasoning are very good as well

Our favorite we ate staying in New Jersey! The sauces are amazing. The jumbo shrimp was so good. Great portion sizes for the price!

We love Ike's as we're not far from Ocean City, we make trips down here just to eat without even going on the beach! We've also purchased some of their sauces to bring home and use on our cooking!
